Course structure

Our basic food safety training course will teach you the importance of food hygiene controls. You will learn how to prevent food contamination and how to store food safely and rotate stock. You will be taught how to deal with food pests to meet food safety laws and how these laws can affect you or your business, employer and consumers.

Course outcomes

Successfully completing our basic food safety training course will result in you receiving the Level 2 Award in Food Safety and Hygiene. With this qualification, you will gain an in-depth understanding of how to remain compliant with respective food handling and food safety regulations. You will finish the course with the confidence to:

  • Prepare, cook or handle of food in a food service or catering business
  • Meet the standards needed by the food hygiene regulations
  • Register your catering business with your local authority

Our course will provide you with adequate training to ensure you are compliant with the relevant regulatory bodies.

How is the course assessed?

As part of the basic food safety training, you will be required to complete a straightforward multiple choice examination focusing on the knowledge and skills taught throughout the course. 

Course progression

Being awarded the Level 2 Award in Food Safety and Hygiene opens the door for you to progress onto our Level 3 Award in Food Safety. This progression will allow you to learn the skills for intermediate food safety handling and personal hygiene.
